Days in the sun
And nights in the rain

Summer is over, simple and plain
Found me some fun that’s good for the pain
Already told you, I don’t feel the same
I don’t feel the same

Hey all. Sorry for the lateness but today I wanted to make the post kinda special. Before we go any further, let’s acknowledge the words above. They are from my favorite song from the last Drake album “Views”. Here it is for those that haven’t heard it (it’s the screwed version, but you guys know how copyrights go on the tube).

So why do I dig this song so much? Because I’m infatuated with the Fall, especially the transition from Summer to it and I feel this song embodies my thoughts on it.

Fall is my favorite season. The fashion, brisk air, and focus it can bring are mesmerizing. But what gets me the most is the effects of love this month can have on people. I know that is kind of a weird statement, but I was reminded of it yesterday when I finally saw a leaf fall to the ground.

It was orange.

I looked around and saw that there were many multicolored leaves adorning the trees. With the hot weather in Atlanta, I hadn’t even noticed Fall had come. Well considering this is the first day of it I guess it makes sense. It felt like it. My heart could feel it without needing to check a date.

Years ago we started a clothing brand called “Loveless September” (now Lovebomb) and it was based on September being what I thought was the true month of Love. Where I expounded upon it though was that it wasn’t all just blissful love. I thought, hell still do, that it was a pivotal month for decisions in one’s love life in general. Something about the weather change just give’s one a moment of clarity and a decision is made that not only effects them but another individual.

I had Cupid discuss it years ago (especially the phenomenon of “Cuffing Season”. You can read about it below actually.

Meaning of September from Cupid

I’ll use myself as a case in point. Sometimes it can be like clockwork just how consistent September is with changes. Sometimes, I find love and am on cloud 9. More times I have been heartbroken and left to figure out the rest of the year. This one time I was shown true love with the birth of my daughter. And I think it’s a good time to tie knots and such. I’m just saying from what I see, I’m not alone in this month being so instrumental in the facet of love.

Loveless was born in September btw. That alone is noteworthy for me.

I guess as winter approaches it’s just kind of important to not feel alone. Just ask Angel (I guess it never stated it, but this whole story has been taking place in September haha).

I guess what I’m saying is, regardless of how you decide to spend the rest of your year/life, trust in your heart. It’s kind of the lesson I am trying to give to Angel. You don’t need someone to come in and help complete you. Love is bigger than that. I think that two complete people can find each other and have complete kids that will eventually be with other complete people (glorious cycle I’d say).

Unfortunately for young Angel here, he definitely is pretty damaged. So damaged that he is taking Kirsten’s words pretty literal and is seemingly trying to get revenge on Cupid. How will this turn out?

We’re gonna have to wait to find out as this is the last page of issue 1.

I just want to thank you all for following the story and all the encouraging words along the way. I hadn’t made a comic since I was 13 and I promise this filled a long needed void for me. I’m a story teller. It’s the only reason I learned to draw. I think it’s why I try to tell stories with my tattoos (especially the Loveless ones). Just to sit back and create a story has been as invigorating as I had expected it to be.

Over these months, I have grown as a storyteller and artist. The growth in art is really apparent as you flip through the pages and it makes me excited for what is to come as we continue the story. It wasn’t always easy getting this comic posted weekly, but it was always worth it. I proved that I can do it, so now I want to prove that I can make it great and get it to the masses. I can’t wait to shock myself again.

“Wait! I was just getting into it… What now?”

Well now, I’m going to work on issue 2. Simple as that. Cupid is here and Angel is trying to kill him. All I can say is that so far this story has been pretty grounded in reality. Now shit is about to get pretty crazy considering the God of Love has entered. I want to give away things so bad, but just know, there is no way to predict what is in store.

Besides the comic, I’m going to be going back and fixing tons of stuff on the pages (anyone notice how Angel and Kirsten’s tattoos stopped showing up and such lol). I’m going to go through all the pages and make sure everything is consistent before the print run featured in “Jambalaya Mixtape”. By the way, if you ever get bored and see mistakes on anywhere, just throw a comment on that page. It definitely helps out with getting me to fix it.

Lastly, I’m going to be doing a ton of work again as the director for Loveless Society in general. The interviews will start coming up as well as a slight redesign of the site geared toward a new focus. I’m excited but I know I have a ton of work ahead of me. Follow Loveless on Instagram and Facebook to know when the new issue will start. I’m going to create a great buffer this time. Try to not be tardy for the party in the future.

Well that’s about it. Sorry this was so long winded, but I’m going to miss you guys. Don’t be a stranger. Hit me up with anything revolving Loveless. Thanks again for hanging with me and Cupid.

Out. For now.

Loveless Mel

PS: Tell someone you love them today. Tomorrow’s not guaranteed. I love all of you. Means a lot that you would read this, and I hope to get better just for you. Now to go eat breakfast and get some fresh squeezed orange juice! Or sleep. That’s cool too haha. Later.
